Description

A Swedish single malt whisky distillery, originally founded by Mats de Vahl, Per de Vahl, Jan Sahlén, Anders Jonasson, Per Rydberg and Thomas Larsson as Box in 2010, but renamed eight years later. It is located in Ådalen along the banks of the Ångerman river. The High Coast Silent Mills Collection 01 Marieberg is a single malt from the Swedish High Coast Distillery, part of the limited Silent Mills Collection. This heavily peated whisky is matured in a mix of first-fill bourbon and virgin American oak casks. The Silent Mills Collection is a tribute to the many sawmills that once lined the banks of the Ångermanälven river, where the distillery is now located.

Nose
Vanilla, mint and wood smoke. Marshmallows with a sprinkling of ashes. Ripe, red apples. Plenty of sweet, earthy smoke and oaky vanilla, with a touch of buttery apple pastries.
Palate
Fiery and feisty, with fruity, peaty and spicy notes. A nice base of sugary sweetness and tropical fruits. Rich, sweet smoke, with warming ginger and peppery spice, toasted vanilla marshmallows and fruit compote.
Finish
Medium long, remaining enjoyable with earthy peat lingering, warming oak and orchard fruits.
