Highland Park 50 Year Old, Sherry Cask, 2018 Release, 2018, 42.5%

The 2018 release of Highland Park 50 Year Old was hand-bottled from two Spanish oak, sherry-seasoned hogshead casks first filled in 1964. These casks lay undisturbed until 2008 when they were sampled and discovered to be of astonishing quality. In January 2010, the two casks were married together, and a small amount of the 1960 vintage from an earlier 50 Year Old release was introduced. The newly married whisky was then returned to its hogsheads and left to harmonize for a further eight years. Only 274 bottles of this intensely rich whisky were produced.
