Nose
Fruity and creamy, yellow peaches, melon, vanilla cream, HP heather notes, tame oak spice, stewed apples, milk/white chocolate, pear, honey, hints of cedar wood. Expressive and refined. Toffee apples next to a log fire, with soft comforting smoke. Looseleaf tobacco in an old leather pouch. Old oak, red berries macerated in brown sugar and sherry with grated orange zest. Cloves and cinnamon. Rich fruits; cooked apples, pears, prunes. Sweet tobacco with a hint of peat.
Palate
Malty and chocolaty first with lots of juicy sultanas, fresh tangerines, mixed spice, runny caramel, crème brûlée, milk chocolate, black grape juice, blackberry jelly. Some oak spice appears on the mid to late palate. Medium to full mouthfeel with a velvety texture. Complex. More of the toffee apples, vanilla. Delicate sherry notes with red fruit – redcurrants, plums, raisins and berries. Soft, earthy, and comforting heather peat. High-quality malt. Malty and rich with soft spices and oak. Fresh melon and sweet sherry notes.
Finish
Gently drying with oak spice and some fruity sweetness, dried fruit and candied fruit. Still some milk chocolate and nuts kicking around. Long and satisfying. Fruit, orange and vanilla fade through floral peat to end with a touch of gentle wood spice. More rich fruit with heather peat and an oaky-spice aftertaste.
