Description

This is a magnificent 40-year-old Highland Park 1982 vintage, bottled in 2022 by Gordon & MacPhail for their prestigious Private Collection range. It was bottled without colouring or chill filtration from a single refill sherry puncheon (cask #1155) that yielded 202 bottles at an impressive 51.5% ABV. Highland Park is the largest and oldest malt whisky distillery in the Orkney archipelago, founded in 1798, and is renowned for the unique flavour provided by local Orcadian peat. Gordon & MacPhail is a historic independent bottler, known for its expertise in maturation.

Nose
Rich stewed raisin aromas infuse with notes of fragrant apple and cigar box. Smooth toasted almonds give way to dark cherry and brown sugar undertones.
Palate
Intense festive spices lead to Seville orange peel and soft garden mint. Rich Medjool dates and roasted coffee bean flavours are balanced by cracked black pepper.
Finish
Full and spicy finish with lingering citrus and delicate smoky notes.
