Description

This single malt from an undisclosed Highland distillery was bottled for The Wine Society as part of their Reserve Cask Selection. It was matured for 30 years in a combination of seven hogsheads and two butts that previously held Amontillado and Palo Cortado sherries, before being refilled with whisky in 1989. Bottled in 2019 at 46% ABV, this release is non chill-filtered and of natural colour, with an outturn of 2064 bottles.

Red apple, toffee, caramel, nuttiness (walnut/brazils), baking spice (cinnamon, all-spice), dried grass/hay, tinned peaches, beeswax polish, candied orange peel, hazelnuts, figs.
Palate
Rich, chocolatey (milk chocolate, cocoa powder), robust maltiness, toffee apple, raisins, candied lime, orange oil, dried fruits (sultanas, dates, apricots), heather honey, caramel, sweet oak, candied peel, raisin, walnut.
Finish
Decent length, warming baking spices, sweet and fruity notes gradually dissipate to reveal bitter chocolate and distinct maltiness.
