Description

This American whiskey, distilled from a bourbon mash on February 27, 1987, was aged for 20 years in used cooperage (oak barrels) in Illinois. It was bottled by Preiss Imports under the Hirsch Selection label, with the production limited to 120 casks.

Nose
Sharp and piney, with alcohol, softening to vanilla, caramel, and banana. Also, sweet honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, dried dark fruit, and a stale wood note.
Palate
Resinous sweetness, quickly followed by hot, piney bitterness. Some effervescent fruitiness, semisweet chocolate, creamy oak, macerating strawberries, and a distinct grass note.
Finish
Medium to long, hot, piney, resinous, and a bit sour aftertaste. Also, old oak, honey, spice, and a long, dry finish with sweet chocolate.
