Description

The famous I.W. Harper brand, introduced in 1870 by the Bernheim Brothers, was discontinued in the United States in the 1980s, when Schenley decided it would be more profitable to produce the bourbon solely for the Japanese market. After a 30-year absence, Diageo reintroduced the brand to the US market in 2015. I.W. Harper 12 Years Old aged for a minimum of 12 years and is bottled at 86 proof. The bourbon is presented in the brand's iconic crystal decanter.

Nose
Rich aromas of caramel, vanilla, and dried fruit, with hints of oak, orange zest, cinnamon, honey, and almond. Some notes of melon, pepper, and butterscotch are also present.
Palate
Smooth and full-bodied with a balance of sweetness and spice. Notes of butterscotch, ripe plums, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and oak. Other impressions include popcorn kernels, honey, toffee, coconut sugar syrup, sour plums, and pepper.
Finish
Long and velvety, with lingering notes of caramel, toasted oak, and a hint of spice fading into sweetness. Some describe it as a nice honeysuckle finish or an oak bomb with a dry, peppery sensation.
