Description

From its Mizunara wash backs and small stills with steep lyne arms to the fact that the mashman uses a wooden paddle to stir the mash, Chichibu is a hands-on distillery with quality as an intrinsic focus. With the ground now broken on a blending room, and an off-site cooperage, Ichiro Akuto's distillery - formed from the ashes of his grandfather's Hanyu distillery - is one of the finest producers... This is the first official release of single malt Japanese whisky from Chichibu's second Distillery, established in 2019. It is aged 4-5 years primarily in ex-bourbon casks, non-chill filtered, and without added color.

Mild sweetness of honey, richness of apple pie and custard cream, spice of cinnamon and nutmeg, orchard fruit (pear, apple, apricot), honeycomb, barley sweetness, lemon curd, gentle oak spice, hints of white chocolate, soft herbal tones, malt richness, rich, fresh, malty, vanilla custard, lime juice, white peach, under-ripe banana, peppery spice, subtle ginger, and toasted oak.
Finish
Smoky and long, thickness of barley, clean, graceful, lingering, malt sweetness, light fruit, vanilla, refined oak, delicately warming fade, light earthy & ashy peat, cigar smoke, sweet coconut, and a dry finish with a tiny bit of bitterness.
