Nose
Complex layers of sweet vanilla and toffee, with notes of peaches, bananas, apples, pears, lemon, and a hint of woody oak. Some sources also mention molasses, caramel, shortbread cookies, crisp apples, dried dark fruits, and incense.
Palate
Smooth and full-bodied, featuring vanilla, tropical fruits, light rye spices (cinnamon and nutmeg), caramel, hazelnut, chocolate, dried fruit, aged oak, and warming spices. Some describe it as honey-like with a cookie-like aroma, or with citrus fruits, strawberry marmalade, and mango chutney.
Finish
Long and satisfying, with lingering sweetness balanced by subtle smokiness. Notes of honey, green tea, salty liquorice, banana, hazelnut, ginger, and a puckering astringency with lemon pith. Woody and pleasant astringency from the barrel lingers.
