Description

A former malt distillery in the Speyside region that sadly spent as much time in mothballs as it did distilling. It longest operational period was under ownership of the Distillers Company. It was demolished by Pernod Ricard in 2013 and Dalmunach was built on the site in its place. This 28-year-old Imperial single malt is a marriage of five ex-bourbon barrels, bottled by Elixir Distillers as part of their Single Malts of Scotland 'Marriage of Casks' series. Only 600 bottles were produced.

Nose
Soft notes of citrus and orchard fruits, ginger and vanilla, oak, beeswax and petroleum. Densely-packed aromas of green leaves, strawberry creams, incense, thyme, and archived books, with tropical honey, mango, papaya, pineapple, peach syrup, lychee, and marzipan.
Palate
Rich, soft, and comfortable with ginger, vanilla, whipped cream with lemon zest, and soft oak. Fruity lychee and watermelon, aromatic myrrh, wood spice, elderflower cordial, citrus, honeydew melon, poached pear, fondant icing, sponge pudding, chalkiness, basil oil, ginger, and mintiness.
Finish
Long and fruity, exclusively citrus, with vanilla and a rich creamy sweetness. White pepper, a whisper of grape, vanilla bean, and dusty spice.
