Description

A former malt distillery in the Speyside region that sadly spent as much time in mothballs as it did distilling. It longest operational period was under ownership of the Distillers Company. It was demolished by Pernod Ricard in 2013 and Dalmunach was built on the site in its place.

Nose
Notes of buttered sweet popcorn, freshly cooked, with a richness developing into fresh apple and rhubarb crumble with piping hot custard. Hints of cinnamon and nutmeg spice, crisp green Granny Smith apples, desiccated coconut, and delectable toasted marshmallow.
Palate
A wonderfully creamy texture with flavours of rhubarb and custards boiled sweets. Sweet notes are offset against a fresh citrus that builds to become a lively lemon sherbet. Orange blossom and eucalyptus balance the sweetness, combining with hints of stem ginger. A selection of orchard fruits, more green apples and juicy pears, and fruity confectionary like apple turnovers. The texture is similar to a delicate honey syrup, creating a mouth-coating yet gentle feel.
Finish
A touch of chilli spice creates longevity and continues to meld and balance against flavours of dry mint and honeysuckle. The finish is gentle, pleasing, and long, with some heat remaining in the form of black pepper and a hint of chili spice.
