Description
Located in the North-East of Scotland, Invergordon is one of the only grain distilleries found in the Highlands. These distilleries are usually found in Central Scotland due to the diversity of grains and easy transportation. It was in 1951 that Invergordon was founded, but only began operating in 1961. Four years later, Invergordon was home to the Ben Wyvis Single Malt which closed after twelve years. This 10-year-old single grain Scotch whisky was launched in 1990 by Invergordon Distillers and was well-regarded for its smooth and approachable style. It was targeted specifically at the female market and was withdrawn a few years later, ahead of the company's acquisition by Whyte & Mackay in 1993.
