Description

This is a 5-year-old single malt whisky from the Isle of Raasay Distillery, independently bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 162.4. Distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2024, it was matured in a first-fill ex-bourbon barrel and bottled at a cask strength of 61.3% ABV. It is part of the "From the Shoreline, into the Forest..." bottling series.

Oaky and a bit spirity, with reddish fruits like sugar-dusted cranberry, chocolatey malt, vanilla, lemongrass, linen, floral notes, olive oil, caramel, wood smoke, and oatmeal.
Palate
Medium-thick mouthfeel, hot and spicy, with strong drying oak, tannins, baking spices like cardamom and brown sugar. Strong fruity side with berries (blueberry, raspberry, blackberry), apple, pear, white stone fruit, lemon-lime soda, mineral flavors, pecans, Ovaltine chocolate malt mix, and orange rind.
Finish
Warming and spicy, super malty, with vanilla, leather, cinnamon, and buttercream frosting. Softer flavors like honeydew melon, salt, milk chocolate, and wood smoke linger.
