Description

The Isle of Tiree First Release is the inaugural single malt whisky from the Isle of Tiree Distillery, marking the first legal single malt produced on the Hebridean island in over two centuries. Crafted using Laureate malted barley, hand-mashed, and distilled over a direct flame in small copper pot stills, this whisky was matured in a combination of first-fill ex-bourbon, first-fill ex-oloroso sherry, and virgin oak casks. It is non-chill filtered and presented at 47% ABV.

Nose
Candy sweetness, fresh with light vine fruit, a touch of wax and honey; earthy with sweet spices including ginger and cinnamon. A little toffee, sweet oak and soft dark sugar. With water, less fruit and more wax, ginger, wax floor polish, spicy florals.
Palate
Medium mouthfeel, slight viscosity. Spicy, waxy, peppery and a little vinous with a bit of struck match and varnish-like fumes. Drier, herbal notes and some ginger.
Finish
Medium length with tingly spices and herbs. Slightly mouth-drying but also sweet wood notes and wood tannins.
