Description

It was introduced in 1867 by John Walker & Sons and its range is headed up by its Red Label and smoky Black Label blends, and its premium Blue Label offerings. John Walker & Sons is a dormant subsidiary of the global drinks giant, Diageo, and its Johnnie Walker whiskies are its sales-leadin. This is a limited edition cask strength bottling of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, an intense blend of some of their rarest whiskies.

This blend leans into dark chocolate, toffee and warming spice, with citrus and a light thread of smoke keeping the richer notes from feeling one-dimensional. The long finish stays spicy and earthy. Tea or herbal notes would have suited my usual interests, but the documented contrast between sweet, rich flavours and subtle peat gives this plenty to hold attention without relying on those preferences.
