Description

A limited release of Johnnie Walker's most premium Blue Label brand, the Ghost & Rare blends focus on Scotland's lost distilleries. This fourth release is built around malt from Pittyvaich, alongside whisky from Mannochmore, Auchroisk, Cragganmore, Royal Lochnagar, Strathmill, Port Dundas and Carsebridge distilleries. Pittyvaich distillery closed its doors in 1993 after only 18 years of operation, making its remaining casks extraordinarily scarce. This blend showcases these rare whiskies, crafted by Master Blender Jim Beveridge.

Nose
Aromas of dark fruit and berries, gentle butterscotch, stewing orchard fruits, and a dash of cinnamon. Sweet fruit notes of fresh apple, delicate subtle sweetness of honeycomb and soft wood. Ripe orchard fruits, peach, baked apple, soft toffee, fragrant Speyside florals, and gentle grain sweetness.
Palate
Notes of fresh apple, beautifully balanced with the light sweetness of honeycomb and soft wood. Luxurious and velvety with toffee apples, poached pear, butterscotch sauce, vanilla pod. Hints of butterscotch, vanilla, dark fruit, orange peel, and oak spice. Lush and rounded, with vanilla cream, stewed fruits, milk chocolate, and a subtle nuttiness.
Finish
Rich and luxuriously long. Long, dry and savoury, with warming, woody and baking spices, crisp tart green apple, and dried orange peel. Medium length, with fruity and honeyed sweetness and baking spice. Long, warm, gently spiced, with lingering dried fruit, toasted oak, soft caramel, and a final floral note.
