Nose
Smooth, soft peaty goodness mixed with cereals and a green earthy note. Hints of vanilla, wood and light pepper. Strong sweet peat notes dominate, very maritime in character with sea salt laden air, beach bonfire and clear Islay influence.
Palate
Medium body. First impression is of vanilla cream soda and then a wave of peat crashes, turning smoky and earthy. Again, the Caol Ila stands upfront with soft peat, oak and smoke. Hints of oily fish and malt in the background. Honey, citrus with big smoke coming through. Also peat and chocolate.
Finish
Medium-long. A twinge of honey sets in adding much-needed sweetness, and the charcoal notes turn slightly bitter. Ashy, crest, vanilla and oak with peated malt sweetness. Long with more smoke, pepper, and oak.
