Description

A legendary name in Japanese whisky that developed significant cult status due to many exceptional releases of its whisky following its closure in 2000. The original distillery was dismantled in 2016, however a new one was built 7 miles away in the town of Karuizawa, commencing production in 2023. This Karuizawa 1999-2000 Cask Strength 6th Edition is the sixth release from the Fugaku Sanjurokkei series, which pays tribute to Hokusai's 'Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji'. It was bottled in 2016 by Number One Drinks Company.

Palate
Medium viscosity. Cinnamon apples. Stewed ginger, rancio. Old leather bound books. A touch of dark chocolate bitterness by mid-palate.
Finish
Long. Fading ginger. Some baked apples, gentle malt appears, more complex rancio fade. Gentle dark chocolate towards the end.
