Description

This is a rare Japanese single malt whisky from the revered and now silent Karuizawa Distillery, distilled in 2000 and aged for 12 years. It was bottled in 2013 by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society from a single refill sherry butt, cask #132.6, with an outturn of 553 bottles. Assertive with notes of herbal, minerally and dried citrus fruit, musky melon, spicy grape and barley, vanillin oak, apricot danish pastries. [4]
Palate
Hot and spicy delivery with peppery vanilla, dry oak tannins, butterscotch, custard and honeycomb. Water calms things down a bit with more floral notes, coconut oil and sugared almonds. [4]
