Description

A bottle of Karuizawa 32 Year Old Japanese Single Malt Whisky from the Noh series. This was distilled in 1980, matured in a single sherry butt and bottled in 2013 for Number One Drinks. This is one of 335 bottles; it was bottled from cask number 3565. Karuizawa was founded in 1955 and was Japan's smallest whisky distillery. Delightful aroma, lavish bouquet of dried fruits, rich oak, a hint of spice, massive sherry, rancio, wine stone, slightly salty sherry, intense dried fruits, coal, diesel, wood smoke, light spiciness with basil and menthol.
Palate
Rich, complex, smooth, velvety smoothness, layers of pure chocolate, figs, raisins, notes of leather and tobacco, sharper than expected, dry and biting with a dried fruit intensity, lots of oak, wine-like sherry, alcohol, diesel, nutmeg, wet green tree bark, red fruits, cedar wood and cinnamon spice.
Finish
Lingering, warm and satisfying sensation, Japanese plum wine, smooth and sherry-like, slightly salty, red fruits (strawberries), balsamic vinegar.
