Nose
Magnificent woodiness, eucalyptus, precious woods (rosewood), light smoke, tobacco, faint chalkiness, dry sherry/vin jaune, walnut notes, humus, mushrooms, strawberry. With water: menthol, old herbal liqueurs, verbena, Chartreuse, old pu-erh tea, lapsang souchong, pinewood smoke.
Palate
Huge and incredibly fruity, sweet citrus (kumquats, oranges, mandarins) with crushed cloves and ground pepper. With water: more vivid and 'nervous' oranges, precious old earthy tea.
Finish
Long, never embarrassingly oak, always fresh albeit massive, becoming earthier with some tannins, eased by chocolate and eucalyptus.
