Description

This is an extremely rare and old Japanese Single Malt Whisky from the now-closed Karuizawa distillery, distilled in 1964 and aged for 48 years. It was bottled in 2012 by Number One Drinks exclusively for Wealth Solutions in Poland from a single Sherry Oak cask (#3603). Only 143 bottles were produced, presented in a bespoke case made from Polish black fossil oak. It is non-chill filtered and retains its natural color.

Nose
Well rounded and fruity. Blood orange, melon, apricot preserve, hint of pineapple, juicy plums and cherries. Spanish fig bread, chocolate notes. Darker, earthy, with moss and high class Pu Erh. Cinnamon, rose pepper, mint. Leathery, oriental incense, waxed exotic woods. Tangerines, sweet spring blossoms, freshly-dug earth, hushed myrrh and styrax. Wet moss, hewn trees warmed by the sun, lovely perfumes.
Palate
Similar basket of red fruits, black cherries, Seville oranges, guava, fresh figs. Surprisingly tropical, honeyed and very juicy. Well balanced oak tannins, walnut liqueur, waxy notes. Pepper, liquorice. Spiced orange chocolates, rich oak, savoury dark sugars.
Finish
Very long, drying but impressively full with echoes of sweet fruit jams, chocolate and spices. Long, lingering, pleasantly drying, and gently spicy.
