Description

Kavalan Distillery was founded in 2005 with the idea of bringing Scottish whisky-making methods to Taiwan. The first spirit was produced in March 2006. The distillery is situated in the north-east of Taiwan. This single malt is matured in used American oak wine barrels that have been toasted and recharred, imparting fruity vanilla notes and a complex fruitiness. A rich fusion of vanilla and caramelized sugars with dark chocolate, ripe melon, mango, kiwi, delicate citrus fruits, and a hint of pepper. Also notes of concentrated dried fruit, chocolate torte with raspberry sauce, toffee, coffee with condensed milk, walnuts, rum-soaked pound cake, rancio, rosewater, and cinnamon.
Palate
Big and bold with incredible bursts of fruit, tropical flavors, caramel, and red fruit. Complex with toffee, fragrant orange peel, condensed milk, vanilla, root beer, hibiscus, cardamom, imported hardwoods, passionfruit, sweet toasted coconut, extra-sweet black tea, brown sugar, and rum.
Finish
Long, complex, intense, and warming with dancing spices, red fruits, tropical fruits, lingering fruit spice, oak tannin, sweet spiced tea, drying wood, white grapes, and chocolate.
