Description

Kilchoman, which came online in 2005, was the first distillery to be built on Islay for 124 years - and it has garnered a sterling reputation in its short lifespan. In particular, the use of a forward-thinking yet expensive wood policy has meant they have achieved a quality mature period at an early stage by using a high standard of cask. With everything being carried out on site, from floor malting to bottling. This '2006 Vintage' was the first official bottling of a 5-year-old Kilchoman whisky, marking a significant milestone for the distillery.

Nose
Dry ash, coconut, vanilla, fresh, slightly pungent, with hints of yellow fruit, honey, and nut. Also notes of brine, seaweed, tar, floral tones, heather honey, and lemon cream.
Palate
Very dry, with malty-fruity sweetness, yellow fruit candies, and a moussing, astringent, slightly oily texture. Flavors of lemon cream, butterscotch, salt, tingly spices, tangy peat, and TCP.
Finish
Medium to great length, peaty-dry, slightly bitter, with notes of salty earth, peat, cherry liqueur, and spices. Also wood ash, linseed oil, and malt.
