Description

The Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2013 Release is the inaugural edition of Kilchoman's annual sherry-matured limited edition series, named after Islay's largest freshwater loch. Distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2013, this 5-year-old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky was matured for over five years in Oloroso sherry butts and finished for six weeks in Oloroso hogsheads from the renowned bodega Jose Miguel Martin. Syrupy with hints of honey liquor, almonds, peat, delicate smoke, spicy tones, warm and smoky, peat smoke, sherry, leather, warm caramel sauce, cinnamon almonds, fresh inner bicycle tube, antiseptic/anaesthetic, mint, vague sweetness (lacquered meat), pepper, clove, leathery, new sneaker rubber peat, tennis balls, gingerbread, mixed berry preserves, gianduja gelato. Palate
Great combo of sophisticated smoke and nicely sweet sherry, wine notes, hints of oak, peppery, salt, brine, prunes, candied orange peel, tobacco, rich with a round and oily mouthfeel, peat starts sweet but grows drier and earthier, wood smoke, spices (clove, nutmeg, cinnamon), chocolate, raisins, toffee, earthy, light cinnamon, peat cinders, cayenne pepper, soft cherry fruitiness, berried. Finish
Peppery with oak and hints of peat, nicely long with spices and dryness, long, smoky and sweet, dry, tannic, continued brine, resurgence of smoke, heavily-cinnamon spiced date loaf, lingering peat smoke, loads of smoke, saltines, lemon zest, more peppery, less sweet, very good length, austere, peat, bitter herbs.
