Description
An Islay malt distillery that was the first new distillery on the island for 124 years when it opened in 2005. Founded by the Wills family, the distillery saw a return of the practice of "farm distilling" to Islay as it used its own barely fields, malt floors and kilns. Kilchoman Machir Bay is the distillery's core expression and signature peated single malt, named after Islay's most spectacular beach. It is a vatting of whisky matured in both bourbon and sherry casks, with a high proportion of bourbon barrels creating a distinct balance of classic Islay character and fresh floral complexity.
