Kilchoman, which came online in 2005, was the first distillery to be built on Islay for 124 years. It has garnered a sterling reputation in its short lifespan, particularly for its forward-thinking yet expensive wood policy, achieving a quality single malt at an early stage by using a high standard of cask. Everything is carried out on site, including floor malting a large portion of their own-grown barley.
