Description

Originally based in Aberdeen before being bought by the Campbeltown based Mitchell family in 1969, Wm Cadenhead's is the oldest independent bottler in Scotland. Now their flagship Campbeltown premises - located next to the Springbank distillery - also features their own shop offering a variety of bottled spirits from different distilleries. This 12 year old single malt from Kilkerran (Glengyle) was distilled in 2011 and fully matured in an ex-bourbon barrel, then bottled by Cadenhead's for their 'Authentic Collection' in October 2024. This is one of only 204 bottles.

Nose
Flint, rye bread, fruit syrup, sap, peat, toasted oats. Maritime and citrusy, orange and lime, dry grass, chalk and mellow minerality, hints of musty barnyard. Orange peel, warehouse mustard, toasted grains, ginger, turmeric spice, and vanilla beans.
Palate
Delicate, orange marmalade, fruit salad, custard, mineral notes. Medium-bodied, buttery, tropical citrus, maritime brine, youthful and spirited, grassy sugars, hints of coconut, cracked peppercorns. Citrus and ginger, sweetened apple juice, raspberry syrup, and strawberry Chewits.
Finish
Soft peat, apple strudel. Medium-length and peppery with a kiss of salt and soft fruits. Medium-length finish with spice reminiscent of sweet chilli and black pepper.
