Description

The Kilkerran 8 Year Old Cask Strength Bourbon Cask Matured Batch #11 is a lightly peated single malt Scotch whisky from the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown. It is aged for 8 years exclusively in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at cask strength (55.6% ABV) without chill filtration or added coloring. This is the eleventh release in the series.

Nose
Lively and inviting, with an explosion of yellow fruit (lemon, peach, green apple, ripe pear), mineral and floral notes, hints of leather and yeast. Also notes of key lime pie, apple jelly, honey, vanilla, butterscotch, custard creams, apple butter, white miso, cream sponge, and poached pear sweetness.
Palate
Nicely oily, offering a balance between fruity sweetness and earthier tones. Citrus and marzipan blend with toasted bread and oats. Ex-bourbon cask brings vanilla, earthy peat, and white pepper. Creaminess with notes of banoffee pie, vanilla custard, panna cotta, shortbread crust, smooth caramel chocolate, gooseberries, white grapes, cigar box smoke, and sandalwood.
Finish
Medium length, with a balanced conclusion of gentle peat, malty sweetness, and a slight bitterness of citrus peel. Mineral and tropical fruit notes linger, leaving the palate dry and clean. Sea salt and brine notes emerge, along with a gorse note, hints of green peppercorn, honeydew melon, and an ashy note.
