Description

This Single Malt from the family-owned distillery in the Kingdom of Fife has been distilled using Fife barley and matured in 100% ex-Oloroso American Oak Sherry Butts from Jerez, previously used for maturing Sherry. These casks were specifically chosen by Isabella Wemyss for their gentle oak flavours and sherry rich sweetness to compliment the fruity character of the Kingsbarns spirit, allowing for a perfect balance between the spirit and the wood. Nose
Treacle, sultanas, fruit loaf with cinnamon icing, a touch of dark chocolate with summer berries. Sweet vanilla, bright summer berries (strawberries, raspberries, watermelon), fruitcake, faint white pepper prickle. Cinnamon scrolls and hot cross buns, with a drizzle of maple syrup and dried cherry. [4, 6, 7, 8]
Palate
Sweet tinned pineapple up front, orange peel, cake spice. Fruity, cherry-flavoured fizz pop, orange zest, caramel flavoured coffee. Pineapple upside down cake, marmalade and more cinnamon, with a touch of cocoa. [4, 6, 7, 8]
Finish
Lots of dried apricot and a hint of roasted hazelnut. Warming, with lingering fruity sweetness and gentle spice. Apricot jam and chocolate-coated nuts. [4, 6, 8]
