Established in 2009, Kingsbarns is one of Scotland's newer distilleries. Former golf caddie Douglas Clement initially tried to raise funds himself but the project was eventually bought out by Wemyss Distillery Ltd enabling the distillery, along with a visitor centre, to be opened in late 2014. This special release marks a true milestone for Kingsbarns: their first 10-year-old single malt. Distilled from local barley, their light, fruity spirit has been matured in 90% ex-Bourbon barrels and 10% STR red wine barriques. Over a decade, the casks have added richness and complexity. The ex-Bourbon barrels have imparted soft vanilla and tropical sweetness, while the STR barriques contribute depth and subtle spice. The result is an elegant Lowland single malt.
