Description

A Japanese malt distillery that was opened by Matsui Shuzo in 2017. The company had previously introduced a Kurayoshi brand, which it still markets using whisky sourced from another company. As such, the distillery's own single malt is sold as The Matsui. This is a sherried expression from the Kurayoshi range, created by Japanese whisky producer Matsui Shuzou. These whiskies are blended malts, made with whiskies distilled in Scotland and shipped over to Japan, where they're blended with Japanese whisky. Matured in oak casks and finished in sherry casks, this whisky has sweet and mature aromas including raisins and pears. Fresh groundwater from the Tottori prefecture is used to bring the whisky to proof.
