Description

This exceptionally rare 40-year-old Lowland single malt was distilled at the Ladyburn distillery on November 21, 1974, and exclusively bottled for the Private Cask Collection by William Grant & Sons Ltd on November 25, 2014. The Ladyburn distillery, built in 1966 by William Grant & Sons, operated for a very short period, closing in 1975 and being demolished in 1976, making its single malt bottlings incredibly rare and highly sought after by collectors. This particular release was yielded from first-fill bourbon cask number 89/199-74, resulting in only 157 bottles.

Nose
Very elegant and precise aromas. Rich notes of prunes & dates greet the nose with oily orange, dark chocolate, floral and waxy/leathery notes.
Palate
A very pleasant, rich and smooth taste in the mouth. Lovely texture. A big & oily delivery with bold dark chocolate, prunes in cognac, toasted oak, liqueur orange, new leather, floral spice, firm oak, apricot, caramelized peach & fig jam.
Finish
The finish is quite unique, rich and long lasting. Chelate bitters, waxy orange, toasted vanillin oak and more of that boozy soaked prune/ date nuance.
