Description

A special 18-year-old release from Lagavulin for the 2018 Feis Ile festival, bottled at cask strength (53.9% ABV). This limited edition single malt was matured in a combination of refill American oak hogsheads, rejuvenated American oak hogsheads, and ex-Bodega European oak butts. It is non-chill filtered and known for its complex balance of fruity notes and signature smoky character.

Lovely viscosity, more lemon zest, stewed apples, medicinal tar flavour, mentholic, sandy, charred pineapple, meaty bass line of cured ham, sweeter notes of sultanas, raisins and toffee, sweet, smoky, burnt leather, briny, citrus, rich, balanced, oily, dark fruits, caramel, savory notes, creme brûlée, ginger ale, apples, milk chocolate, spice, black pepper, earth, orange/tangerine.
Finish
Oily, smoky and lingering, leathery and briny, clean smoke with a mineral edge, oak, apples, caramel, vegetal, asphalt, charcoal, long, light smoke and seawater, sweetness lingers.
