Description

This Lagavulin 10 Year Old Feis Ile 2024 is a limited edition Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, released to celebrate the Fèis Ìle festival. It is drawn from extra heavily peated stock and matured in refill, heavily charred, and first-fill ex-Bourbon American oak hogsheads. This powerful expression reveals savoury maritime nuances of iodine and dry seaweed with an underlying strong smoke, remaining true to the beloved Lagavulin profile.

Nose
Mild, clear and dry overall, with some prickles. Slow to rise, with maritime notes of salt crystals, iodine and dry seaweed. Gentle smoke hints at coal dust and peat ash, with a faint carbolic note. Also, buttery croissants, dry earth, fresh tar, kelp, and concrete, bonfire smoke, cashew nuts, white spirit, burnt toast, lime zest, and sugar paste. Fresh, very coastal and apple.
Palate
Creamy-smooth, mouth-filling, and full-bodied texture with a sweet initial taste, becoming lightly salty, with fast-growing, billowing smoke. Lightly coating and very smoky. Powerful in clarity of taste. Closely mirrors the nose, featuring dry earth, ash, and bonfire smoke, complemented by sugar paste, caramel syrup, and honeycomb. Notes of dry straw, dry roasted peanuts, and walnuts. Spice comes through as ginger and cinnamon sticks. Also, white pepper and a huge burst of peat.
Finish
Medium length, with more smoke and hot white peppery spiciness, finishing dry. Becomes lightly saltier with a dash of water, yet the pepper still punches through. Sweet and peaty notes linger.
