Description

This Lagavulin 18 Year Old Iain's Farewell Dram is a strictly Limited Edition bottling released in 2023 to honor Iain McArthur, Lagavulin's legendary warehouse manager, upon his retirement after 50 years in the whisky industry. The whisky was matured in Spanish second-fill Manzanilla casks, with the cask having been filled by Iain McArthur himself 18 years prior. Only 212 bottles were released, hand-poured and signed by Iain McArthur, making it one of the distillery's rarest bottlings.

Nose
Aromas of smouldering embers, cereal, green orchard fruits, crisp apple, vanilla, yogurt, and sherry. White peppercorns and tea emerge, leading to notes of toasted cardamom, cinnamon, and peat.
Palate
Smoke, apple and cinnamon, hints of chili pepper. Rich, heavy and viscous, with berries, slate, light ash, meaty honey and light iodine peat. A bit of burning wood, lemongrass and citrus on the back palate.
Finish
Very long and powerful finish with a lingering peppery tingle. Decadent and sweet while that meaty Lagavulin peat continues to reign.
