Description

This Lagavulin 13 Year Old was released to celebrate the 2021 Islay Jazz Festival, an annual event sponsored by the distillery. It is a limited edition bottling of 3,000 bottles, matured initially in refill American oak casks and then finished in ex-Mezcal casks, marking the first time Lagavulin has used such a maturation process. Bottled at natural cask strength of 54.8% ABV, this expression showcases Lagavulin's classic heavily peated island style with a distinctive and unusual flavor profile imparted by the Mezcal casks.

Smooth and rich texture, with sweet, savoury and warming notes. Hints of smoke, spicy wood, smoke-dried jalapeño pepper, charcoal, salinity, paprika spice, sour lemon, salt, and a boozy kick.
Finish
Long with a new-found heat and lingering smokiness. Super smoky, heat lingering, soured fruit, medicinal notes, chili, black pepper, herbs, coffee beans, and smouldering ashes.
