Description
Like most Islay malts, Lagavulin is definitely not for the faint hearted. The distillery was officially founded in 1816 (although illicit production on the site most certainly predates that), and produces malt with a signature style of earthy smoke and savoury undertones. This is the second Offerman Edition, an 11-year-old Lagavulin finished for four to five months in casks that previously held Guinness beer from the Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore, Maryland. It was released in 2021 in collaboration with actor Nick Offerman, inspired by his character Ron Swanson's love for Lagavulin. This limited edition combines Lagavulin's intense peat and woodfire smoke with creamy caramel, roasted coffee, and dark chocolate notes from the Guinness casks, creating a unique 'sweet peat' flavor.
