Description

The Lagavulin 2005 Distillers Edition, bottled in 2020, is an exceptional Islay single malt whisky. It is double matured in Pedro Ximenez casks, which intensifies its rich flavor with a raisiny sweetness. This release offers intense peat and vanilla aromas, a hint of fruit, and an incredibly long and engaging finish. It is part of the annual Distillers Edition series from Diageo.

Nose
Intense peat, vanilla, and a raisiny sweetness. Coastal notes of ocean vegetation, eucalyptus, and iodine, with flourishes of dark chocolate, pipe tobacco, tart apple, and dried orange peel.
Palate
Sweet and luscious with clear malt and smoke. A salty tang, coffee, vanilla, and a glimmer of fruit. Oily and viscous with notes of raisin, plum, dark chocolate, black pepper, and lemon zest.
Finish
Incredibly long, with fruit, peat, and long-lasting oak. Lingering iodine, sweet cooked stone fruit, vanilla, and campfire smoke.
