Description

An Islay malt distillery that is located between Laphroaig and Ardbeg on the south-east coast. One of two Islay distilleries in the Diageo portfolio, it is the island's representative in the Classic Malts of Scotland collection and its classic 16-year-old is one of the world's best-loved whiskies. This Lagavulin 1980 Distillers Edition is a special limited release, double matured and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, bottled in 1999.

Nose
Rich and fruity with intense peat, salty sea breeze, rum-soaked raisins, citrus zest, vanilla, seaweed, and hints of chocolate, earth, and leather with plums.
Palate
Thick and chewy, with notes of tropical fruits, peat, salted chocolate, seaweed, citrus zest, blackberry, damp earth, musty bookshelves, wet leather, caramel, coconut, and nuts. Sweet and luscious with a salty tang.
Finish
Deep and smoky with hints of peat, black pepper, sea spray, salt, and long-lasting oak. Engaging and enjoyable with a maritime character.
