Description

This particular Cairdeas is named the Ileach Edition to honour John Campbell attaining the position of Master Distiller, the first Islay native to hold this position at Laphroaig. A world-renowned Islay distillery, famous for its distinctive character of its heavily peated spirit and it has one of the longest-serving single malt brands. It was built in 1815 by Alexander and Donald Johnston. This special edition was released for Feis Ile 2011.

Palate
Intense sprinkling of pepper and ginger, herbaceous and salty peat, liquorice, cloves, orange peel, lemon drop, aniseed, charcoal smoke, assertive minerality, hints of burnt oak, creamy, sweet, vanilla, touch of brine.
Finish
Long, smoke expands, salt emerges, grapefruit, wet coastal peat, spices, liquorice, ash, orange, warming, smoky and savory notes, long delicate spiciness, hint of bitterness.
