Description

A world-renowned Islay distillery, Laphroaig is famous for the distinctive character of its heavily peated spirit. This Laphroaig Càirdeas Master Edition is a special limited edition release for the 2010 Islay Festival (Feis Ile) and Friends of Laphroaig. It was created by Master Blender Robert Hicks by blending whiskies ranging from 11 to 19 years of age, matured in ex-Bourbon Hogsheads and first-fill Bourbon casks. Bottled at cask strength of 57.3% ABV and non-chill filtered, it offers a complex and robust Islay experience.

Nose
Medicinal and peaty, with iodine, dry soil, campfire smoke, honey, fresh fruitiness (pineapple, apple, peach), lemon drops, vanilla, nutmeg, pencil shavings, and a hint of gum. Coastal notes are also present.
Palate
Dry, peppery, and ashy with good oiliness. Sharp and saline with citric notes and strong spice (ginger, nutmeg). Roasted almonds, liquorice, iodine, coastal notes, burnt oakiness, and old wooden furniture. Sweetness and vanilla/honey layer.
Finish
Long and dry, with notes of used ashtray, nutmeg, lemon, salt, salty almonds, liquorice, old oak, and peat. A thin, bitter coffee note can also be present.
