Description

The Laphroaig Càirdeas Origin is a limited edition Islay single malt Scotch whisky, released in 2012 for Feis Ile and to celebrate 18 years of the Friends of Laphroaig programme. This non-chill filtered expression combines some of the original liquid used in the first Cairdeas release, which was further matured, with newer Laphroaig spirit that has been fully matured in quarter casks. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 51.2% ABV.

Intense and coastal, with notes of peat smoke, seaweed, iodine, citrus zest, vanilla, sweet malt, and spice. Hints of deep earthy peat, peanut, new paint, white grapes, marzipan, and honey. [1, 5, 11, 16]
Palate
Rich and full-bodied, offering smoky peat, lemon, toffee, medicinal notes, and subtle oak, balanced by a creamy texture. Flavors of heather honey, maple syrup, fruity sweetness, earthy peanut, charcoal, and vanilla custard. [1, 5, 11, 17]
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering smoke, brine, citrus, and gentle sweetness. Remarkably smooth with a strong marzipan finish, also notes of ash, BBQ, oak bitterness, and a dry character. [1, 5, 11, 16]
