Description

Laphroaig was founded in 1815 by two brothers from the unassuming Johnston family on the south coast of Islay. Named after the location that the distillery itself was created upon, the name loosely translates to the 'broad hollow by the bay'. Thick waves of iodine peat smoke, candied fruit, toffee, berries, peach syrup, sweet vanilla latte, earthy peat, medicinal notes, and a hint of sherry.
Palate
Rich, earthy, and spicy with clove, cardamom, chilli, salted caramel, blackcurrant, liquorice, deep smoke, roasted coffee, vanilla, fruit, tar, and sweet sherry notes.
Finish
Long, smokey, medicinal, slowly drying out, with a lingering sweet seaweed afterglow, prickly black pepper spice, and a tarry peat aroma.
