Description
Laphroaig Elements L1.0 is the inaugural release in the distillery's experimental Elements series, celebrating innovation in whisky making. This unique single malt was crafted with a 55-hour fermentation process, overseen by then-Distillery Manager Barry MacAffer. It notably deviates from traditional methods by utilizing both an 8.5-tonne mash tun (a practice from pre-1990s) alongside the standard 5.5-tonne mash tuns, and combining cloudy and semi-cloudy wort to enhance phenolic and tropical fruit notes. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, this non-chill filtered, limited release is bottled at 58.6% ABV.
