Description

Laphroaig was founded in 1815 by two brothers from the unassuming Johnston family on the south coast of Islay. Named after the location that the distillery itself was created upon, the name loosely translates to the 'broad hollow by the bay'. In 1994 the Prince of Wales awarded it the Royal Warrant, an accolade attested to no other whisky on earth. This 'Unphorgettable Madeira Release' is a single cask, 20-year-old Laphroaig, distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2025, with only 247 bottles released.

Smoky, peaty, and sweet. Very rich. Brown sugar. Barbecue ribs. Meaty. Molasses.

Thick and rich mouthfeel. Sweet but balanced. Umami. Meaty. Ribs. Barbecue sauce. Reminds me of the barbecue chicken my dad used to make, where he would forget its on the grill and then it would come off all burnt and sweet and ashy.
