This release is made up of two different Glenrothes single casks-13504 and 13508-both distilled on the same day and filled into their respective barrels in 1968. Both spent nearly 50 years in those same oak casks; these were not double barreled or secondary finished in any way. The total yield from both casks was only 309 bottles. Nose
Mellow, with a slight prickle, highly perfumed with notes of scented hand-cream, attar of roses, carnations, almond oil, oak shavings, and a trace of vanilla. It also presents as complex, fruity, and herbal, with crystallised greengages, dusty dried mixed herbs, an elusive whiff of scented smoke, a trace of cigar boxes, and a hint of candlewax.
Palate
Smooth and oily texture, sweet taste, with notes of salinity, peppery spice, and a suggestion of Friar's Balsam medicine.
Finish
Long, warming, spicy, and drying, with a cooling mentholic aftertaste.
