Description

Originally based in Aberdeen before being bought by the Campbeltown based Mitchell family in 1969, Wm Cadenhead's is the oldest independent bottler in Scotland. Now their flagship Campbeltown premises - located next to the Springbank distillery - also features their own shop offering a variety of bottled spirits from different distilleries. This Ledaig was distilled in 2008 and aged for 14 years in a bourbon hogshead before being bottled as part of Cadenhead's 'Warehouse Tasting' collection.

Nose
Fresh and bright with seafood counter notes, bourbon-cask sweetness, sugar-dusted funnel cake, milk-tea, citrus zest, lemongrass, chalk, brine, toasted sesame oil, rice crackers with seaweed, and a little barnyard. Organic, earthy peat, savory meaty notes (charred pork), roasted malt, cream, lemon, and salt.
Palate
Thick texture, grassy, briny, honey-sweet with melon and lime, turning deep, savory, and seafoody. Dirty peat, old bandages, punky wood, potting soil, shellfish, and Korean smashed cucumber salad. More salt and char, coastal notes (shells), and vanilla. Custard cream, biscuits, ripe banana, and rock salt.
Finish
Medium-length, deeply charred, slightly vanilla-creamy. Lingering savoriness and ashtray, lime sherbet and macadamias. Long smoke that builds with char and tar, ending with salt. Lobster meat, seaweed, cloves, and sea spray.
