Description

The commemorative first release of Lindores Abbey single malt whisky. Widely recognised as the home of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky in 1494, Lindores Abbey has been making modern Scotch whisky since 2017 after this state-of-the-art distillery was built. Lindores' fruity spirit is aged in a combination of bourbon barrels, wine barriques, and sherry butts. The first 12,750 bottles were commemoratively labelled to celebrate the first commercially available whisky from the new Lindores Abbey Distillery.

Nose
Elegant, soft, mellow vanilla, caramel notes playing with orchard fruits and sweet pear drops. Reminiscent of toffee apples, with sherried spice, soft toffee pennies, hazelnut, condensed milk, puff pastry, fresh dough, and buttercream. Figs, plums, blueberries, orange rind, foam bananas, dried cranberries, light floral and herbal notes, dark chocolate, salty porridge, and pipe tobacco.
Palate
Smooth with a creamy texture and a perfect balance of mellow vanilla, dried fruits, citrus touches with a hint of spice. Viscous, with aromatic spice from nutmeg and clove, freshly cracked black pepper, creamy caramel, cooked apple, marzipan, pears poached in red wine, chocolate digestives, burnt orange rind, and jam.
Finish
Medium length, delicate but lingering finish, with peppery oak, a bitter edge, vanilla, drying bitter oak, syrupy anise, peppermint, and a reminder of plump orchard fruits and dairy cream.
