Description
A limited-edition Lowland single malt Scotch whisky from Lindores Abbey, Friar John Cor The Cask Strength Congregation Batch - Chapter II, bottled in 2023 at 60.9% ABV. This expression commemorates Friar John Cor, a Lindores monk credited with the earliest written record of Scotch whisky in 1494. Matured in a combination of bourbon, STR (Shaved, Toasted, Re-charred) wine barriques, and rum-peated casks, it is bottled at natural cask strength without chill filtration or added coloring. The black bottle design is inspired by the tunics worn by Lindores monks and the Abbey's stone pillars. The spirit itself is unpeated, but the peated rum casks impart earthy peat notes. The barley used is sourced from fields around the monastery.
